Smoothly, India has covered a long way teeming with thorns and impediments, to reach at some considerable comanding height in the field of Robotic excellence on the global tech innovation arena. World acknowledges the prowess and pays sparkling tribute to us which is sans any spark arising out of malfunctioning likely in our robots.
India, other than the rich agriculture which stem from rivers flowing down from the Himalayas, has become an equally fertile ground for robotics too. Our minds have studied and struggled to develop numerous robots and some of these have been patented too and have been our exclusive intellectual property. Let’s glimpse at some of the most prominent robots that India has developed for a multitude of purposes.
Kempa Robot:
When the airplanes touchdown at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengluru, Kempa greets passengers in the capacity of a humanoid (a robot) designed and developed by Robotics. It performs a wide range of functions like giving directions, sharing flights info, scanning luggage and handing over the boarding passes. It speaks in English and Kannada languages and can also unlock other info about the state, such as famous tourist destinations and local heritage.
Finally, unlike some, its brain (processor) is not programmed with a bug (or any short-sighted programming of this sort) that it would admonish female heads if it finds them covered with scarves (hijab).:)
Manav Robot:
Such is yet another masterpiece of robotics in India, which A-Set Training And Research Institute developed in 2014. It is programmed to follow the human commands, to walk, to dance and numerous sensors make it more discrete. It has the capability to record distant visions and proces them with calculus to gauge depths and to reason on the basis of certain programming logic.
Shalu Robot:
Sounding like a nickname to someone who may be Shalini or Sheela, such is a female humanoid. This is developed with material that was discarded as scrap. On global arena, it has resulted in the proliferation of India’s position on Robotic field, as this is our response to Sophia.

No doubt, such is a collection of circuits and processors by which smartness and intelligence is codedinto it and can interact in 47 languages. The engineer is Mr. Dinesh Patel, while the couple looks cool. 🙂
Such is a multi-tasking in nature and can be used to instruct children in class on key subjects and can also single-out people on the basis of face-recognition technology.
Such can be a replacement of living teacher in classrooms in near future and can clear doubts among students.
RoboCop:
Indian state of Kerala got the first RoboCop, which was KP-Bot. This robot can welcome visitors and can brief them to different places effortlessly.
It’s popularity lies in its pleasant salutation it gives to those in authority. Such is integrated to accomplish a variety of tasks typical to office desks.
Sandy Robot: Compatible with android which is made 5 feet tall with complex framework of sensory circuits. Such is a humanoid robot which is the outcome of dedication of i-Brain Robotics.
It copies human attributes with sensors exuding emotions and the chic technology to enable self-learning is inclusive too, which is possible on the back of NLP and AI (Artificial Intelligence).
Besides, it can identify people with face-recognition software and can be one’s companion for life.
Daksha Robot:
Developed by DRDO (Defence Research and Department Organization) such is our commando and thus helps in peace to prevail. It is run on battery and detects the presence of explosives and IED for safe management and disposal.
Then, numerous cameras are fitted there alongside the X-ray devices. To make things better, a gun is mounted atop of it to make its way through the doors which are shut and bolted.
Finally, it can be instructed remotely through fiber-optic communication network and can function for 3 hours non-stop.
Why are Robots crucial to us in today’s world?
Robots carry a great significance as the whole spectrum of industries draw a towering boost through these. We get our tasks completed successfully on the back of automation etched into these and then efficiency and devotion of “real human employees” increase manifolds.

Dear readers, I use the term real human employees, as it becomes hard now to distinguish humanoids among humans in the perfect setting of industry 4.0
1). Safety:
Most obvious is the advantage of safety ensured by using a robot. Huge mechanical frameworks, deafening sounds and high temperature surroundings can be risky to human employees. But when we think about delegating the danger tasks to a robot we can easily evaporate that risk while obliging the employees too.
2). Speed:
Robots are machines which don’t need breaks, neither do they have any vacation nor do they long for som fun-time in clubs and pubs after office hours. As such, their output can never be compromised and such can never under-perform too. Likewise, with no training and monitoring but with a little supportive hardware and related programming done, given repetitive tasks can be performed easily.
Further, as such are relentless and tierless in efforts, their usage has direct impact upon the production. Such is a collection of hardware and software, powered by premium techbnology such as AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning), given tasks are quickly completed in time, within the deadlines and with the set standards.
3). Consistency Programmed To The Core:
Unlike humans, these machines don’t divert their attention and they don’t get distracted. Under all weather, in every condition and under any circumstances, robots will function unaffected.
In fact, automation is more reliable than human labour (with due respect to the latter).
4). Class Of Perfection:
We can always expect quality effort from robots. They carry out repetitive work easily and precisely and are not supposed to make mistakes. In many ways, robots are run by a control unit installed within their own structure, which is programmed to suppress any deviation from the standard path and outputs a perfect product.
5). Happy Employee Faces:
Robots are basically designed to perform repetitive work which humans find mundane, but if they get assisted by robots, they become a happy lot. Now, when our workforce doesn’t feel stressed out, they wil be even more devoted to the profession and with innovative workplace projects, we can still get more out of them.

6). Creating More Jobs:
Robots simply change the nature of functions by adding sheer sophistication. We still need people to monitor their performance and activities. As the demand for refined robots grows, we will need more such machines designed for a variety of works and in many roles and this would result in more demand for qualified engineers of robotics and operators at our place.
Undoubtedly, when we tell our workforce to adapt their ways to accommodate robots, they get a reason to remain more diligent and to add tech feather in their skillset.
7). Passion With More Productivity:
Robots are multi-functional but still, some job needs human involvement. If employees are assisted by robots, they wil be left with more time and can devote time to do other work, such as attending customer calls, doing branding on social media and in other tasks related to marketing and selling.
Truly productivity gets high when robots ease their burden.
Even though we are lightyears away from having a fully automated workplace on the back of robots but companies are showing interest in these and India is equally keeping up with the flow. Truly, Delightful Robots Favour The Cause Of Industry 4.0 With Robotics As A Special Pillar
