Professor Fei-Fei Li, on whom tech devotees heap praise as the godmother of artificial intelligence, shared her feelings in the media that she feels “proud to be different, as she is the only female among the seven AI pioneers who have been awarded by the king yesterday.
The venue: St. James’s Palace
At a ceremony at this place today, the King will present the 2025 Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering.
In fact, the awardee strength is six. They are Prof.Yoshua Bengio, Dr. Bill Dally, Dr.Geoffrey Hinton, Prof. John Hopfield, Jensen Huang,Huang, who founded Nvidia,Nvidia, and Dr.Yann LeCun, who sits in the seat of chief AI scientist at Meta.
Their service and devotion are acknowledged for their contributions to the advancement of modern-day-day machine learning, learning, which is an area that gives space to the quick development of artificial intelligence.
The Godparents of AI are who? Tech News Updates in India
As for the Godfathers of AI, netizens bestow the honour on the trio, Dr. Hinton, Prof Bengio, and Yann LeCun, who is a senior AI scientist at Meta presently, and they have gained recognition massive enough to be regarded as the “Godfathers of AI.”
Now, dear reader, while talking about the godmother of AI, the decision favors Prof. Li as she told British media that she has come to terms with the title.
She came clean: “I would not call myself godmother of anything”. Robot news updates in India.
She recalls that it was a few years ago that people began chanting this title for her, and she would simply “pause” and recognize if I rejected this, it would miss an opportunity for women scientists and technologists to be recognized this way.”
“Because men are pretty easily called godfathers or founding fathers.“
“For all the young women I work with and the generations of girls to come, I’m okay now accepting this title,” she added.

Her Origin and Past Life: Tech News Updates in India
She was born in China, and Prof. Li immigrated to the US during her teenage years, and on the back of hard work and perseverance, she registered a huge success in novel computer science concepts.
Currently, she is the CEO and co-founder of World Labs and Labs and also serves as a co-director of Stanford’s Human-Centered AI Institute.
Her work on ImageNet has gathered her widespread acclaim, and such is the project that scripted huge advancements in computer vision.
She produced large-scale-scale datasets for image recognition alongside her pupils, and such work is considered the foundation of dozens of AI-centric tech frameworks in the present day.
Here, decoding the computer vision or simply uncovering the way computers might “see” was due to this.
While underlining the importance of the dataset, she simply remarks,
“Open the floodgate of data-driven AI.”
She foresees the next milestone, which is when the AI would interact with the surroundings.
This skill is “innately important and native to animals and humans,” and, if this could be dipped in AI, it may “superpower” and empower audiences in multiple ways, including creativity, robotic learning, design, and architecture.
Interestingly, this was their first time that all seven laureates gathered at one junction and under one roof together.
As for its downside, the three “godfathers” have openly spoken about its hazardous side, side, but their opinions were different.

Dr. Hinton has often raised severe concerns about the potential for AI to represent an “extinction-level threat.”
But Prof. LeCun, who is absorbed at Meta, has claimed that doomsday prophecies are overdone.
At this juncture, Prof.Prof. Li adheres to a more “pragmatic approach” and regards the disagreement amongst scientists as “healthy,” as it would encourage further innovation.
“We’re used to even disagreement, and I think that’s healthy. A topic as profound and impactful as AI requires a lot of healthy debate and public discourse.
“I think in the case of AI, both extreme rhetorics concern me… “healthy,”I have always advocated for a much more science-based, pragmatic method in communicating and educating the public.
“So, yes, I would like to see our communication of AI to be much more moderated and grounded in facts and science instead of the extreme rhetoric.”

Every year, engineers who accomplish something distinctive and in whose names groundbreaking inventions are registered, which propel mankind ahead, are honored with the Queen Elizabeth Prize.
Earlier this award was bestowed upon Sir Tim Berners, who founded the World Wide Web.
The winners “represent the very best of engineering,” according to Lord Vallance, chair of the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering Foundation.
“Their work “demonstrates how engineering can both sustain our planet and transform the way we live and learn.
