In the case of complaints from Delhi, i.e. 634, they could manage only 377. On such an irregularity, they stated, “The stagnancy in the redress rate….received by CPBC is concerning”.
Media turned to Mr Siddharth Ghanshyam who, in the capacity of programme manager for the municipal solid waste unit in CSE agreed to the widespread availability of single-use plastic items which is banned.

“Since the ban came into force, plastic straws in packaging of renowned brands have gone off the shelves. However, surveys by CSE show that banned items are still available and no action is taken against them. Awareness campaigns have been reduced.”
Mr Atin Biswas who is the programme director for the municipal solid waste unit in CSE highlighted,”Most of the banned products, including plastic cutlery, are non-branded and manufactured in the informal sector. This sector has nothing to do with branding and only wants to make money. Since such units are not included in the government’s records, how can the authorities shut them down”.
He reiterated that huge public awareness and popular sentiments are called for, for making the ban a success. He wants people to decline to accept outlawed items during purchase and they ought to report to the authorities when they find any such banned items in the market and society.
Let’s see how far would we go in such a single-use plastic ban.
