The news comes after Agility Robotics announced in June that it had inked a multi-year contract with GXO to use the Digit humanoid robot in GXO’s logistics operations.
The move comes after GXO’s pilot program concluded late last year, and the agreement is the first formal commercial deployment of humanoid robots and the first robots-as-a-service (RaaS) deployment of humanoid robots in the industry, according to the company.
Earlier this year, Amazon began using Agility Robotics’ humanoid robot Digit at its robotics research and development facility south of Seattle as a test project for a potential wide-scale rollout.
